  3. History

  4. The path to a Central Matching Service EFET standards initially defined for matching confirmations (settlements, positions and exchanges have all been added) All standards defined up to 2009 were peer to peer (P2P) communications: i.e. transactions must be matched at both counterparties to be a match Meanwhile .... The market became more tolerant of central hub style matching solutions Growth in the P2P approach caused increased operational overheads EFET investigated various approaches to centralised eCM matching Consultation within the EFET eCM WG and wider community resulted in a central/local approach to eCM v4.0 being unanimously selected Consultation with the EFETnet community resulted in overwhelming support for an EFETnet Central Matching Service (CMS)

  6. EFETnet Launches the Central Matching Service The CMS is a central platform and service team which new EFET standards and processes can be plugged into The service launched with the EFET Electronic Confirmation standard (eCM) on 12 September 2011, with more EFET standards and new processes, including regulatory reporting, planned for launch in 2012 The CMS manages all communication configuration (trading counterparties, reporting points, etc.) and centrally hosts the matching software, enabling licensed users to implement an EFET compliant solution and begin matching with new counterparties very quickly. The project to design and build the CMS was managed by EFET and involved: • Development of the CMS platform by long standing EFETnet development partners Ponton Consulting; • Migration of 17 EFETnet users to the new platform, including all 5 brokers; • Establishment of a new UK based service team; • Co-ordination of industry changes over go-live weekend.
