Why use the Run Chart in the Classroom? • It helps collect and interpret data. • It helps create a picture of what is happening in the situation you are analyzing. • It helps find patterns in the data allowing for valuable insights. • It helps compare one section of data to another, helping to check for changes.

Ways to use the Run Chart • How many and what kind of injuries happened on the playground? • How did students score on weekly spelling tests? • How many new words were used in a piece of writing? • How many library books were checked out during a specific period of time? • How many hot lunches were served each day? • How many errors were made on a specific type of test?

  5. Things to Remember about the Run Chart • Gather as much data as possible before creating the chart. This will help you decide what numbers to use on vertical side of the chart. • Try collecting data on check sheets first. This makes transferring the data easier. • Be sure you have enough data to analyze. • Run charts show data collected in time order.
