  1. Problem and Variable By: Libby NorthamMrs.Klar-7 9-20-10

  2. Problem: • Margret and Monica went to the store to buy brownies. The brownies cost $10 each package, they bought 2 packages.

  3. Equation: X = Number of packages Y = The total cost Y=10x or f(x)=10x

  4. Independent and Dependent • Independent- number of packages • Dependent- the total cost We know that Y depends on X. So the total cost depends on the number of packages.

  5. Function or not • The data is a function because no “X” values repeat.

  6. Domain and Range • Domain- all the “X” values in the data • Range- all the “Y” values in the data D:{1,2,3,4,5} R:{10,20,30,40,50}

  7. Graph

  8. Discrete or continuous • The data is continuous because it is not a line it is points.

  9. Graph The total cost

  10. Soooo… • The total cost is depending on the number of packages that Margret and Monica buy $10 a pack. If the buy 2 packages than the spend $20.
