  4. When to start applying Send your application at least 3 months before your desired triplet or “eligibility period” Processing must be completed by the 25th of the first month of the triplet.

  5. When to start applying Example : • Application Sent : October 1 • Desired Triplet : Oct – Nov – Dec • Application Processed – October 26 • Triplet Received : Nov – Dec – Jan

  6. APPLYING FOR THE EXAM • ONLINE APPLICATION • Can be saved for 14 days. • Not mandatory to enter your ward rotations. • Admission and graduation dates MUST be mentioned correctly. • If your application is not complete, it will be rejected.

  7. Applying for the exam • Student vs Graduate • The day your final year result is declared you become a Graduate. • You are a graduate even if you have not got your diploma but your final year result has been declared. • Please fill in the correct information. • Form 186 for graduates and also for students as DMC participates in the web portal.

  8. Applying for the exam PAPER APPLICATION (opens only after you submit the fee) • Form 186 - Certification of Identification form. (If you are a student Form 186 is the only form you send) • Form 187 – IWA document submission form • Form 344 – ECFMG medical education credential submission form • Form 345 (2 copies) – Medical school release request

Pre requisites for applying • M.B.,B.S diploma • 2 recent passport size photographs • If you are applying as a student you just need the Form 186 and 2 photographs. • Buy one brown envelope and get it stamped from Aftabbhai and put all documents in it and send it to ECFMG. • Remember the sender is Principal Dow Medical College and not YOU. • Use Fed Ex instead of TCS.

  10. Pre requisites for applying Graduate • Form 186 • Form 187 • Form 344 • Form 345 • M.B.,B.S. diploma • 2 photographs • Letter from principal if diploma not issued Student • Form 186 • 2 photographs • Change of status i.e. from student to graduate should be notified immediately.

Pre requisites for applying If you are a graduate and your diploma has not been issued you need one letter from principal. “ This is to confirm that (applicant’s name) has graduated and completed all requirements to receive the M.B.,B.S. degree from Dow Medical College. The degree will be issued in (month/year)” Principal

  12. processing time • 1st Application • 4 - 6 weeks. • ECFMG will notify you by e-mail when your application is received and when verified. • Keep viewing the status of your application on OASIS at www.ecfmg.org

  13. Processing time All later exam applications • 8-10 days • No paperwork • Online application only

  14. Processing time • FORM 327 – A • Processing time – 2 to 3 months • Submit Grade Book transcript to Hussain at Students’ branch DMC • Follow status online on OASIS

  15. ECFMG certification • Complete certification application found at IWA www.ecfmg.org • Should have passed Step1, Step 2CK and Step 2CS. • Credentials verified. • Required for Step 3 registration www.fsmb.org • Ideally should be certified before September 1, to ensure maximum interview calls.

  16. My suggestions Trust your abilities and get going. Dream big and work hard to achieve it. Get certification before September 1. Apply early to ensure maximum calls Good scores won’t give an edge if applying late.

  17. My Timeline • June • Start working on your personal statement. • Start searching programs. • Get to work on your LORs, you need 4 at least. • July • Buy the online token of ERAS. The window opens from July 1. • Start sending your LORs to ECFMG for uploading them on ERAS

  18. My Timeline • August • Your LORs should have been uploaded at your ERAS office. • Should ideally be certified by August 31. • September • Apply to programs on September 1. • October to January • Interview season.

  19. My Timeline • February • Submit your Rank Order List. • March • Match declared on Monday of third week of March. • Post match scramble for three days after the match.
