  2. What is an Pediatric Oncologist • A Pediatric Oncologist is a doctor who diagnose and treats children (usually till age of 18) with cancer. • This is career is a specialty for children and teens • Treat all types of cancers • Have same afflictions of oncologist

  3. What is Cancer? Cancer cell • Cancer is the uncontrollable division of cells • If a set of cells start to grow to rapidly then it becomes a tumor or cancerous area

  4. Cell Division • Process that cells go through to divide • Cell division relating to sexual reproduction is called meiosis • Another type related to growth, replacement, repair is called mitosis • In both the DNA is replicated and nucleus splits

Cancer cells no longer respond to many of the signals the control cellular growth • Originate within the tissues • As they grow and divide they become even farther from normalcy • During early stage of cancer tumors are usually benign • Tumors grow and become malignant , they break through boundaries and invade other tissues
