  2. Overview • Online mapping and global positioning systems are a publication of textual and graphical information obtained by satellite and displayed in a user-friendly database • Online mapping sites include: Google & MapQuest • GPS include: Garmin & TomTom

PRO 1: Crime and Economy • Crime Mapping • -Police use crime mapping to know which area needs police department • -Also It sent out alerts to the public and tells the public what is the percent of crimes happening in a certain area and which crime happens most • Economy Mapping • - This give the people more information for the plans to improve the economy and which are is changing to improve their economy. An example of this is changing their currency. • -It also informs the people of the area being improved and where new jobs are needed.

  5. PRO 2: Google Maps Social Impact • Google Maps covers over 22 million miles of turn-by-turn directions in 187 countries • Google Maps makes searching, locating, and navigating fast and more efficient • Businesses can even advertise to the public via Google Maps

  7. CON 1: Privacy Issues Google has come under scrutiny for their street level maps because they show faces license plates, windows, houses. This cause a security issue a person can be burglarized fairly easy.
