  1. Appropriate Internet Usage in the Classroom Melanie, Alexis, and Jake EDU 2022

  2. The Issue Today many teachers use the internet as source of education. Using the internet helps further the education of students with fascinating information graphics and models of what they are studying. While many teachers think technology is a plus in the classroom some parents think otherwise. The internet is full of many unsafe sites that parents are worried about their children accessing.

  3. Personal Experiences • Alexis: In my school district they had certain sites that were unsafe locked. Also the instructor would have access to all of our computer screens on their computer screen to keep tabs on us • Jake: My librarian would monitor what we would go on but our school did not have any websites blocked • Melanie: All throughout school, specific websites would be blocked, even from teachers. Like Alexis, while in the computer lab, my teachers had access to view all of our screens and control them.

  4. Pros and Cons of Technology in the Classroom Pros Cons Student’s don’t know which websites are reliable and which are not Some students would explore beyond their boundaries Students may feel overwhelmed by the internet and may need to be guided on how to use it • Allows students to explore and find out more information then they would just receive from books • Allows students to have pen-pals from classrooms around the world. • Keeps children engaged
