Pun of the Day. Puns are funny because they “play” on words. Each day, write the new pun down on your handout in the first column. Then in the second column, write the words down that are “played” upon that make the pun funny.

  1. Pun of the Day • Puns are funny because they “play” on words. • Each day, write the new pun down on your handout in the first column. • Then in the second column, write the words down that are “played” upon that make the pun funny. • For column three, use the “play” on words to figure out the denotative and connotative meaning. • Due on Friday for a 25/25 grade.

  2. Pun of the Day #1 • Two hats were hanging on a rack in the hallway. One hat says to the other, “You stay here. I’ll go on a head.”

  3. Pun of the Day #2 • Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now.

  4. Pun of the Day #3 • A dog gave birth to puppies near the road and was ticketed for littering.

  5. Pun of the Day #4 • I couldn’t quite remember how to throw a boomerang, but eventually it came back to me.

  6. Pun of the Day #5 • A small boy swallowed some coins and was taken to the hospital. When his grandmother telephoned to ask how he was, a nurse said, “No change yet.”
