GE graphs- one achievable step towards GIS in our classrooms. • Based on work done at The Draper Field FSC field centre in Snowdonia & Daniel Moncrieff • http://www.field-studies-council.org/rhydycreuau/ • This evening: • Introduce the software with some Silverdale examples. • Have a go at creating your own GE graph based on something you might use. • Discuss its use & the way forwards. • I am no expert!

  4. Laptop logins... Username Sil.gstteach25 Password Vlad440Qamar Open up Internet Explorer- this will open our school MLE home page- select staff Scroll down & select Subject areas & then geography

  5. Select Admin & open the folder called GA meeting 2012. To make this more accessible to you copy this folder onto your laptops desktop or memory stick. This file has example of work we have started to do at Silverdale, some instruction sheets from Daniel Moncrieff & this PowerPoint. Then open up GE graph on the laptops The GE Graphs software is on the laptops: Start, all programs, Geography, GE Graphs It can be downloaded free from http://www.sgrillo.net/googleearth/gegraph.htm

Some of our examples: • Y13 data presentation of enquiry data for AQA Unit 4a • Use of Y7 fieldwork data about stone size/roundness. • Ideas to map wealth across Africa for OCR(A) Extreme Environments. • Ideas to map Y8 fieldwork data looking at microclimates. • Department plan: • Demonstration of graphs by staff- copies used in students work (last year) • Students imputing their own fieldwork data & producing their own graphs (this year)

  7. Have a go at creating a graph which could be used in a classroom situation.
