  2. Density • Density is a measure of mass (matter) in a certain volume • Density = Mass Volume • Examples: • Objects with less density will float on objects with more density (i.e. wood in water) • Objects with more density will sink in objects with less density (i.e. rock in water)

  3. Buoyancy • The buoyant force acts in the opposite direction of gravity • Archimedes’ Principle • The buoyant force is equal to the weight of the fluid the object displaces (pushes out of the way) • Examples:
