Blanchard & Peale - The 5 P's of Ethical PowerEthics Check Questions: • PURPOSE - Individuals see themselves as ethical and let their conscience be their guide • PRIDE - Individuals have internal guidelines and sufficient self-esteem to make unpopular decisions • PATIENCE - Individuals believe the good will eventually prevail, and therefore, they are willing to wait • PERSISTENCE - Individuals make their "ethical" choice and are determined to see it through to the end • PERSPECTIVE - Individuals take time to reflect and decisions are guided by their own internal barometers

The Ethical Dilemma How will it make me feel about myself thereafter? • MORNING-AFTER TEST - Revisit the decision the next morning and see if you still feel the same way about it • FRONT-PAGE TEST - How would you feel if your conduct was the front-page headline subject in your local daily newspaper • MIRROR TEST - How do you feel about yourself when you look yourself in the eyes • ROLE REVERSAL TEST - Put yourself in the other person's shoes - how does it feel now? • COMMON SENSE TEST - Seen against your own common sense and better judgments
