ACT Reading—Distortions • In the answer choices of the ACT Reading test, the test writers will often change, or “distort,” information taken from the reading passage so that students will choose an incorrect answer. • The “distorted” information may include the same words, numbers, or phrases that appear in the passage, but will have very different meanings.
