Who are CITB?We are the Industry Training Boardand Sector Skills Counciland for the construction industry, working to deliver a safe, professional and fully qualified construction workforce.We are looking to engage with relevant stakeholders and all age groups with the objective of providing the industry with a diverse supply of talent.Celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year.

  4. Routes into Higher Education • Traditional Route – GCSE’s, A’ levels, HE Qualification • Non – Traditional route - e.g. through a Construction Apprenticeship or Vocational qualifications e.g. BTEC in Construction

  5. Options to study Construction & Built Environment at HE Level Some of these qualifications/programmes can be studied Part Time or Full Time and some companies will sponsor/pay for studies

Careers Progression Tool • Features 150+ Construction & Built Environment careers profiles • Provides objective, accurate and up to date detailed information about progression opportunities • Aimed at future and existing workforces • Facility to search on qualifications and skills as well as career • Helps influencers communicate future construction progression options to clients • Provides realistic information about sector career progression options • Signposts users to other sources of more detailed information • Just added case studies of 100+ role models to the Tool including many who have studied at HE level

CREST Award Scheme • Managed by the British Science Association • Project-based awards scheme for the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) • UCAS recommend that university applicants highlight their CREST award in personal statements • Over 30,000 CREST Awards carried out in schools last year • CITB have are worked with the British Science Association to gain BRONZECREST Award accreditation for the ‘Sustainable Communities’ activity.

CITB Sustainable Communities CREST Award • Aimed at students aged 11 – 19 years old • Develop a housing plan for a 2000m2 site into a housing development of 10 homes • Must use at least 3 sustainable materials and at least 3 techniques which will make the homes more sustainable to run • Employer led, Award starts with a construction site visit • Links to BTEC Level 2 in Construction • Keen to encourage more schools/colleges and employers to get involved in the scheme • Please see webpage for new CREST Film:

  11. Inspire Scholarship Scheme • Links with employers to offer successful applicants work experience and financial support as they study for a construction related degree at University. • Keen to encourage more universities and employers to engage with the scheme

CITB Construction Ambassador Programme - Our CITB trained Construction Ambassadors are industry professionals who can share positive experiences with people considering a career in construction or influencers e.g. careers/education professionals- Construction Ambassadors act as the face of the industry, inspire others and help them see the wide range of opportunities that construction offers - They can also challenge the stereotypes and preconceptions associated with the industry -Construction Ambassadors can be involved in a wide range of activities including delivering careers talks, supporting careers conferences, providing curriculum support and hosting construction site visits. - Many are studying or have studied at HE LevelPhoto – TibbyChodha – a CITB Construction Ambassador
