  2. Yanni was born on November 14th, 1954 in Kalamata Greece. As a child he would listen to a piece of music, and would practice playing the music for hours until it was right.

  3. Yanni had other dreams At 14, Yanni broke the 50 meter free-style record in swimming.

  4. Yanni had other dreams • At 16 he had Sygmund Freud’s entire works. • In 1972, Yanni’s intrest in psychology relocated him from his home in Greece to the United States. • He attended the Univeristy of Minnesota to pursue a degree in psychology.

  5. Yanni had other dreams After earning his B.A. in Psychology, Yanni said; “to have a Ph.D. at 24 and go into practice and have children and do the same thing over and over again–it would drive me crazy.“ in an interview by People.

  6. Yanni’s Passion for Music Yanni decided to explore his passion for music.

  7. Yanni’s Passion for Music While exploring his passion for music and went on tour with the Chameleons and worked tireless hours in his home-made studio

  8. Yanni’s Passion for Music Yanni could not read sheet music so he made up his own style of notation.

  11. Grammy Nominations • 1993; “Dare to Dream” and “Live at Acropolis”. “Dare to Dream” was nominated for a Grammy in 1993 • “In My Time” followed for a second Grammy nomination in 1994.

  12. Yanni on Music… In a 1993, press release, Yanni stated that “The only way people can fully relate to it and enjoy it is when it means something in their life....

  13. Ultimate Dream Achieved One of Yanni's ultimate goals as a musician was to return home to Greece to perform. On September 25, 1993, Yanni's goal became a reality when he performed live with the Philharmonic Concert Orchestra of London England at the Herodes Attious theater in Athens Greece.
