  5. Claude Monet • Light = Color • Outdoors became his studio • Small dabs of paint; later used long, sinuous brushstrokes • “Impression: Sunrise” painting gave the movement it’s name Self-Portrait, 1886

  15. Homework • Find an interesting setting (ex: café, landscape, city street, outdoor event) • Create an Impressionist-style drawing using colored pencils, oil pastels, crayons or markers − IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK • Think of the examples from class: use of color, light, shadow, composition!
