  2. Hittites About 2000 BC had several city-states in Asia Minor (modern day Turkey) Around 1650 BC they joined to become an empire. They defeated Babylon and fought against the Egyptians for control of the Mediterranean coast Pure Warriors with new fighting technology…Began to use iron (stronger than bronze), created chariots to move faster in battle. Eventually the Hittites were overcome by waves of invasion and attack from many outsiders

  3. MINOANS 2000-1400 BC Lived on island of Crete. Why do we call them Minoans? Major influence on Greece Knossos was capital city, which had no fortifications. Why Culture ends about 1200 BC. Not sure why

What was their greatest colony? Remarkable shipbuilders (possible voyages?) The alphabet (where we get the word “Phonetic) (the Phoenicians were “Hooked on Phonics” ) Bankers- Set up first banking system to assist with trade
