  3. Vocabulary Words • Propaganda – information that is spread to try to persuade people’s opinions • Appeasement- to yield or concede to the demands of a nation to help keep peace • Depression – time of economic failure • Genocide – systematic killing of a group of people

Anti-Semitism – hatred of Jews • Totalitarianism – a government that has absolute control over its people • Fascism – the political regime of Mussolini in Italy which encouraged militarism and nationalism that has complete control over its people • Persecution – a program to exterminate, drive away, or subjugate a people because of their religion, race, or beliefs
