  1. Maintaining a Beautiful Garden is Important to Most Wherever one lives, or visits, or drives around, it is normal to look around the area and see what people’s gardens are like – or the garden at a public facility such as the gym, shopping malls, government buildings or pavements – as you drive or walk past. This is certainly true in countries such as the UK, many parts of Europe and the US, all known for lush vegetation and often beautiful gardens. Some are splashed with colour in spring and summer because owners plant flowers; others concentrate on small bushes and trees. Personal choices are always the deciding factor. Many homeowners and governing bodies of apartment blocks – and owners of commercial premises – make sure their gardens look lovely and are always well maintained, also when it comes to looking after the trees on or around their property. Nobody wants to have ugly flower beds with dead flowers and leaves blowing around, or an unattractive tree that may be dead, or is about to die. Unfortunately there will come a time when this happens for many owners, a time when a tree may have to be taken down, removed. It is sad but often the practical solution. When you have reason to believe this tree has reached the end of its life, it is necessary to fell it then remove it. Few people have the DIY skills to undertake this process themselves; therefore the best suggestion is to call in the services of a professional tree felling service whether you live near New York, London or Aberdeen for that matter. In green areas such as, say, Scotland and Ireland, for example, there will always be a good service near you, and the best ones will always react and act immediately. Felling trees is meant for skilful teams, especially in built-up areas such as urban districts and cities, but most often on smallholdings and farms too. You want to know that you are calling in the experts, a firm that is recommended for their experience and good name. Get someone in to explain to you exactly what tree felling is about, if this is what your circumstances dictate – and also whether or not they will remove the dead tree and its branches from your garden or sidewalk, if that is what you need.

  2. A good tree feller will, for instance, ensure that they take care of all necessary processes to ensure that the tree is felled successfully, with all aspects of safety considered. They will, at least, make sure of the following:  Good preparation – A good service will always ensure that they employ properly trained, knowledgeable teams to carry out any work. They will, before work commences, make sure that the felling will cause no harm by studying the garden or area for any possibility of the felled tree falling on roofs, verandas, hedges or a neighbour’s property; they will check where, for example, power lines run, and they will bring along signage to warn those in the area to proceed with care. They should also check for signs of disease in the tree: rot can cause, especially with bigger trees, the tree to break up during the felling, making the fall of the tree dangerous due to unexpected bad timber, for instance. They should know that the tree will fall at a natural angle when felled – to eliminate possible damage and injury.  Intended fall – it is imperative to ensure the path is clear for the tree to fall once the felling is underway. Provide for path clear from any obstacles – also humans.  About tools – A quality chainsaw is not negotiable. Also, the experienced service will know whether or not they will need one or more of the following, for example: a felling wedge, breaking bar; an impact bar; a rope and winch. These are examples. Let the felling service explain to you what they will use, and why – and how they will ensure that safety at all times will be considered.  Prune first – It makes it easier to complete the process by first pruning the trunk, which ensures that branches and twigs that might get in the way, are removed. The above gives an indication of some of the issues to be considered when tree felling is called for. Important: start by calling in a good, recommended tree felling service.
