  4. What are Indicators? Examples: • Indicators are a tool to help you focus your tobacco prevention activities and bring change to your community. They are also used to measure your progress for tobacco prevention. • 24/7 • Earned media that exposes the tobacco industry • Creating ordinances that mirror state tobacco laws

  5. What are Social Capital Assets (SCA)? • Social Capital Assets are different because, they reflect participation, support, and empowerment to achieve a common goal in tobacco prevention. Examples: • Extent of community activism among youth • Increase community participation • Provide training

  7. What Is Project Planning? Project planning is… • A formal process • A “futuristic” activity • Proactive rather than reactive • Sequential or stepwise • Collaborative

  8. Project Success • Projects Succeed because: • Members have a shared vision • Members have a shared commitment • Members receive recognition for their contributions

  9. Project Failure Projects fail for a number of reasons: • Lack of coordination • Lack of resources • Poor communication • Inadequate planning • Poor follow up
