  2. Documentary Modes DOCUMENTARY MODES ARE USED TO ESTABLISH DIFFERENT CODES AND CONVENTION SO THE DOCUMENT FITS THE NARRATIVE. • THE DIFFERENT MODES OF DOCUMENTARYS ARE • Expository • Observation • Participatory • Reflective • Performative

  3. Kurt And Courtney How it conforms to the conventions of performative documentary style. Kurt and Courtney is a documentary looking at the suspicious death of Kurt Cobain a icon in the music world and lead singer of Nirvana many believe that he did not kill him self but the death was in fact something to do with his wife Courtney love whom he was at the time going through a bit of rough patch with.

  4. Modes of address In Kurt and Courtney the audience is treated as one of the cast and part of the mise-en-scene. The audience is addressed throughout the film when in financial trouble. The Narrative stays the throughout the documentary until the co-funders pull out because of trouble with Courtney love then the narrative changes but along the same story lines looking directly at Courtney's past and her violent behaviour towards people especially the press.

  5. Techniques used Hand held shaky camera work to show fear or panic putting the audience into the shoes of the crew an example of this is when Nick Broomfield go's on stage. They interview people that knew Kurt and Courtney about there relationship and mostly about Courtney and what she was like before going out with Kurt and the trouble she used to get in. The film is bias because it targets Courtney more interviewing people that have problems with her or have done in the past such as her dad that believe she was to do with Kurt's death. On the other hand Kurt is talked about by people that like him like his Aunt and his friend.
