Final Assignment Report Final Assignment Report is a scientific work to show a student’s skill in solving problems/designing a product or system related to their fields in the form of a written work, research or non-research Final Assignment Report is the solving of a problem in the form of a systematic description of the methods applied, mathematic or physical models that will be used, design of products, systems, art, models, strategies, policies, or a combination of any of the above

  4. Final Assignment Report Final Assignment Report is written based on scientific methods, done by students under a guiding lecturer, to fulfill the prerequisites of graduating from S1, D3, and D4 programs in Binus University

Objective of Final Assignment Report For students to gain experience and try applying knowledge and skills received during study in actual working conditions For students to analyze, develop, and implement knowledge and skills received during the research and writing of Final Assignment Report

  6. Types of Final Assignment Report • Done based on research and non-research: • Research: Done to answer hypothesis (Quantitative) and answer questions (Qualitative) • Non-Research: Design product, system, art, model, strategy, and policy

  7. Literature Review • Done by summarizing past research or articles (not from textbooks, but from journal articles, theses, and papers) • Objective: • Find out other people with similar topic’s research method (Problem-Method-Result-Reference) • Gain own research model • Gain recentness of research

  8. Final Assignment Report Writing Framework Ch I: Introduction Ch II: Theoretical Base Ch III: Research Methodology Ch IV: Results and Discussion Ch V: Conclusions and Suggestion

  9. Introduction • Contains: • Background: Why the topic was chosen • Problem/main issue of research • Formulation of problem: Explanation of problem • Scope • Research objective • Literature review: Searching for models, define hypothesis

Theoretical Base Contains explanation of variables used in the research or theories that form a base on how the design is done For research: Theoretical framework containing the explanation of theoretical base and frame of mind before stating hypothesis Recentness of source must also be considered. Textbooks are recommended to be published at most five years prior, while papers, articles, and research report published three years prior at most

Research Methodology Methods for Final Assignment Reports based on research contains the methods used to gain and analyze data for hypothesis testing (quantitative), and answer research questions (qualitative) For non-research Final Assignment Reports, methodology consists of development models, procedurs, and product testing

Results and Discussion • For research-based Final Assignment Reports: • Quantitative/qualitative discussion or descriptive analysis relatedto all research variables • Data displayed in graphics, tables, and pictures, followed by the presentation of relevant research results • For non-research-based Final Assignment Reports: • Product development and discussion • This part explains testing data and analysis based on the resulting product

Conclusion and Suggestions Conclusions contains the results of research or design on Chapter IV that can answer the problems presented in Chapter I Research conclusions are more conseptual and must relate directly with problem statement, research objectives, and defined hypothesis For non-research, product study explains that the product is produced from the theoretical base in Chapter II, and the study result directs to opportunities for it to be used to solve problems presented in Chapter I

  14. Scientific Articles Based on Final Assignment Report Title Consists of 10-12 English words and 15 Indonesian words. Article title contains researched variables or keywords describing the problem being researched Length of article is 10-15 pages, 1.5 spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font Author name is written without academic titles, followed by major, faculty, university and e-mail. If there are more than one authors, only main author is given complete address

Abstract The abstract for a Final Assignment Report is an informative abstract According to ISO 214-1976 an abstract is a short but accurate description that represents the contents of a thesis, without additional interpretation or critic and without seeing who wrote the abstract The contents of an informative abstract is the objective, used methods, analysis, result of analysis, and conclusion. Abstract is written in English and Indonesian, consists of 100-200 words, in one paragraph At the end of the abstract initials of the author is written as a sign that it is written by the author themselves

  16. Keywords Keywords are in the form of nouns that can be taken from the title and contents of a thesis with the objective of making it easier for readers to find out the core of the thesis. Usually, there are 3-5 keywords Abstract and keywords in English precede the ones in Indonesian, and the length of both abstracts and keywords must not exceed one page

  17. Article Contents Introduction Consists of background, literature review, problem, research objectives, and purpose of research Presentation of background should direct to problem definition and finally to objective formulation Final Assignment Report material: 80% Ch. I, 20% Ch. II

  18. Methods, Results, and Discussion Methods This part consists of the research process, the important parts of Ch. III Important materials in methods are data collection techniques, populations, respondents, and data analysis Results and Discussion Source: Ch. IV This part is the main part and longest compared to the other parts, contains final data analysis results and hypothesis testing results Analysis results may be presented with tables, graphs, or pictures that help clarify verbal presentations This presentation must be discussed and connected to the proving of hypothesis, the aim of problem-solving

  19. Conclusion and Suggestions Conclusion serves a summary of research results that directs to clarifying the objectives of research or answer research problems Conclusion is served in the form of narration, without subchapters or numbering Suggestions are put together based on conclusions, and can refer to practical action, theoretical development, and further research Materials: Ch. V

  20. Final Part • List of Citations • Written according to American Psychological Association (APA) style, contains sources of literature referred to in the scientific article
