Challenges • Finding the right timing to introduce ACARA history perspectives with the staff for inclusion in History curriculum. • The process has revealed some adults do not have the same open mind as the students do towards Indigenous Australia. (Subtle but evident). • This is an opportunity to drive the purpose of changing the curriculum and learning experiences to support positive attitudes and knowledge of our Indigenous culture and the other Cross Curriculum priorities such as Asia.

  15. My learning • The format of planning units is enhanced by ATSI team at CEO’s knowledge and resources • Getting ideas from other Focus teachers to apply at school • Specific knowledge such as Lake Mungo Interactive Program • Links to Indigenous artists and performers

  16. Future • To work more with the REC to have a better Reconciliation Plan for 2013 that is a more whole school approach. • Reconciliation Mass • Indigenous Garden • Music performances and dance • Visiting Indigenous artists • Continue integration of ATSI in Art and History curriculum • Continue to share art work on the wiki, school newsletter, exhibitions and framed work around the school. • Proud Race bollards • IEP formation for Indigenous students at risk/not accessing curriculum at year level and developing programs and resources to support such students

  17. Sharing through wikispaces • http://artsmc.wikispaces.com/ • Able to email link to teachers, linked to school intranet so students can access, share with organisations such as RAP. • http://artsmc.wikispaces.com/Clay+pinch+and+Coil+potsJomon to Ernabella Ceramics resources and unit.
