THE PLACEMENT MODULE • YOU have to take a good deal of responsibility for the running of the module • YOU have to make the most of the opportunity, whether it is what you expected or not, as long as it is not unsafe • Even apparently negative experiences can be good learning opportunities and earn a good mark

HOW IT WORKS - OVERVIEW • YOU ARE WORKING FOR AN OUTSIDE ORGANISATION, WHO GET NOTHING IN RETURN FOR LOOKING AFTER YOU AND LETTING YOU FIND OUT ABOUT A CAREER • YOU ARE STILL A STUDENT – YOU HAVE AN ACADEMIC SUPERVISOR AND ASSESSMENT TO DO, BACKED UP BY READING • MOST OF THE TIME YOU ARE ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW YOU SPEND YOUR TIME

  7. HOW IT WORKS - ASSESSMENT 1) Complete and hand in placement agreement at the start of the placement. The form isat the back of this handbook. No mark, but compulsory. 2)Preliminary Report. To be handed in after two days on site, or the equivalent. 1,000 words. 10% of the overall mark. 3) Placement Log. To be handed in immediately after the last official day on site. No word limit and should include supporting material, eg work done for host, photos, etc. 30% of the overall mark. 4) Reflective Essay. To be handed in two weeks after the last official day on site. 3,000 words. 60% of the overall mark.
