  10. To do • In your books – draw a picture of what you think a typical inventor looks like. • Write a few sentences to describe how they look and what their personality is like.

  12. Zhang Heng (25 -220 AD). • Zhang Heng invented an early but efficient seismograph which could detect the direction of an earthquake up to 500 km (310 miles) away.

  13. Sushruta (600 BC) • is considered the father of surgery. • Sushruta demonstrated knowledge of the circulation of blood and lymph and of the arteries. • He connected obesity with heart disorders and diabetes, recommending physical activity in order to cure it. • Sushruta laid the foundation for plastic surgery and related various methods for covering physical defects using skin grafts and other methods

Patricia Bath (1942-) • This scientist, physician, and inventor is best known for her most well-known invention: the Laserphaco Probe. • Her invention creates a less painful and more precise treatment of cataracts. • She has been able to help restore the sight of those who had been blind for more than 30 years.
