Who Is the Florida Urban Forestry Council? • Statewide, non-profit organization est 1990 • Over 400 members • Mission: To educate the citizens of Florida on the importance of trees, including their benefits and the best methods to plant, maintain, manage, preserve, and sustain the urban forest.

  3. Who Is the Florida Urban Forestry Council? • Cities and Counties • Private Arborists • Horticulturists • Landscape Professionals • Utility Foresters • Tree Board Members • Tree Advocates • Interested Citizens

  4. Friends of Our Urban Forest Awards • Outstanding Urban Forestry Professional • Outstanding Urban Forestry Program • Outstanding Tree Advocacy Group • Outstanding Urban Forestry Project • Outstanding UF Educational Program

City of Palm Coast Educational Tree Nursery Project • Demonstrated an innovative way to lower the cost of plant material by growing their own stock. • Educates the high school students in the values of growing and maintaining trees by teaching them how to care for root systems as well as the proper way to plant and prune trees.

  6. Additional Educational Benefits • Student education on nursery design, management and related professions • Teach principals of landscape design and energy conservation that trees provide • Provide trees on school properties where funding was previously unavailable
