  1. St Bride’s PrimaryPlayground Games Inspired by Pieter Bruegel’s painting “Children’s Games”.

  2. Our Inspiration!Painted in 1560. Can our children play these games?

  3. We studied the painting and tried to recreate the games in our playground.We had fun but it took us some time to work out exactly what to do!

  4. In the painting the children were rolling metal hoops. Nowadays Maryam would rather use a plastic one.

  5. 1,2,3 lift! We are not quite so sure if Pavol is having much fun!

  6. There were lots of children lifting others in the painting. Joseph was able to hold Fizhan on his back and walk around the yard. He must have had plenty of porridge for his breakfast!

  7. Sit with your feet touching. On your marks! Get set! G0!

  8. Take a run and jump up high. Luckily for Abdul and John Paul, Arya was able to jump over safely.

  9. Playing with dice has been popular all over the world for many generations.

  10. Can you spot it in the painting? This looks like a very interesting jumping game!

  11. Look at Hamzah. He wanted to imagine he was as strong as an ox!

  12. Sometimes just chatting to friends is the best fun of all!

  13. These boys are imagining they are on a horse or a motorbike. What do you think?

  14. His world seems a little upside down, don’t you think?

  15. A ball and a net, that’s all you need. Go on, Joban! Get it in!

  16. We have taken these photographs to represent the 16th children’s games. We have tried to video some other examples and we will get them to you soon. P5 are looking forward to hearing from you all. Best wishes everyone!
