When Should I Sell Or Scrap My Car?

A quick car sale is often needed when things go wrong so my advice would be to sell to a trader when they go wrong and then it is no longer your problem to worry about. At least it is gone within a few days and there is no messing about kicking tyres etc.

  1. When Should I Sell Or Scrap My Car? cars-2-cash.com

  2. Ideally the best time to sell your vehicle would be when it is running and fully working, this would put the most cash in your pocket in most cases. Obviously a car with a valid mot will command a lot more money than a car without a valid mot.You would get a bit more money selling it privately and in most cases a lot more stress. You need to be prepared for many pointless calls and text messages and people coming to view the car at inappropriate times and then jumping on every single possible fault or even the slightest scratch or blemish, let’s not get started on the comments about needing tires!!

  3. The car you own could be quite rare now so if you have time and space on your side you could break the car which means listing the car for parts and selling each part individually. This would probably bring in decent money but is time consuming. A quick car sale is often needed when things go wrong so my advice would be to sell to a trader when they go wrong and then it is no longer your problem to worry about. At least it is gone within a few days and there is no messing about kicking tires etc.

  4. The following situations are good signs that your car should be sold before it loses most of its value. You see that many cars like yours are going cheap with a valid mot, you only have a few months mot and you are planning on getting a new car once the mot is up. You should sell the car now because once the mot is up it is pretty much worthless. If you know it is going to become a mot failure the only place that will buy it is your local scrap yard. The car has not had regular servicing and is becoming an old car now but still runs ok, get the car gone, cars need to be serviced to run correctly. If you sell now while it is working you may make some decent money.

  5. 3. You know it is going to need work in the future. If the mot station have told you it’s going to need various things for the next mot maybe use it until 3 months before the mot expires then sell it. 4. You notice it is not performing as good as it once did. The mpg is down, it is using more oil or water than it once did. Chances are something is going wrong so bite the bullet and get it fixed or move it on before it does fail 5. Your car has been through the trenches and has the war wounds to prove it, but has decent mot left on it. Sell it before the mot is out because once the mot is out no one really wants to buy a car with panel damage. The breaker yards won’t touch it. The traders won’t be able to sell it on and the only place for it will be the big car park in the sky!
