  11. but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

  12. Fur(animal hair) and fir(a type of tree) are homophones.

  13. Dogs belong to an animal family called canines. Wolves and foxes are also members of this family. Dogs are intelligent. Wolves and foxes are smart, too.

  14. All three of these animals eat meat. None of the members of the canine family are plant-eaters. Many canines have long hair and thick coats, but a few have short hair and thin coats.

  15. Many dogs are friendly, but some are not. When you come near a dog you don’t know, do not try to pet it. Just be nice and speak kindly to it.

  16. You will probably never meet any other members of the canine family. They usually stay far away from people.
