  2. 2013 Season Highlights Inaugural year All new records Ranger Invitational JV Girls Team Champions District 6-4A JV Boys and Girls Team Champions

  3. Mission We are a complete TEAM program that will train to compete and compete to WIN. No ZEROS! We must score in every event.

  4. PHILOSOPHY People who excel in their endeavors invariably are the ones who, early on, had determination and clear-cut goals and habitually directed all their energies toward fulfilling them.

  5. Team Goals • Represent Chisholm Trail High School with class and sportsmanship at all times. • Develop a strong team attitude. • Be the team others measure themselves against. • District 6-4a Champions. • Represent CTHS at Regional and State Competition. • Have FUN.

  6. QUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICS ATHLETES MUST POSSESS If you decide to be the best that you can be, you need to be ready for many difficult experiences, because training and competing are difficult and time consuming. If you say, “I can’t” or “I won’t,” then we CAN’T or WON’T coach you.

  7. OBJECTIVES FOR Track & Field Athletes 1. To get an education 2. To give your total effort in practice and competition 3. To give unselfishly towards your teammates 4. To make the most of what you've got 5. To be totally honest in all your dealings 6. To be loyal to your school, coaches, teachers, teammates, and family 7. To be prompt 8. To be courteous 9. To be emotional and enthusiastic

  8. OBJECTIVES FOR Track & Field Athletes 10. To be one of the best overall athletes at Chisholm Trail. 5 Biomotor Abilities (USA Track & Field) 1. strength – ability to produce force 2. speed – ability to move the body and its parts rapidly 3. endurance – ability to resist fatigue 4. flexibility – ability to retain large ranges of motion at the joints 5. coordination - ability to accurately and efficiently move the body and its parts in order to accomplish some tasks

  9. OBJECTIVES FOR Track & Field Athletes 10. To be one of the best overall athletes at Chisholm Trail. 5 Biomotor Abilities (USA Track & Field) ALL EVENTS REQUIRE ALL 5!

  10. OBJECTIVES FOR YOUR COACHES 1. To be loyal to you 2. To be totally honest 3. To provide the leadership and training necessary to achieve goals 4. To work you harder than you have worked before 5. To assist you in any way possible now and after you graduate 6. To treat you with respect 7. To make decisions as to what is best for the team, and then what is best for the Individual 8. To do everything within our power to improve our program, make our program the BEST 9. To help you mature and grow as an adult

  11. ASSUMPTIONS The program is centered on 4 assumptions. If you are not in complete agreement with all 4of the assumptions, it is best for you not to ever begin the program because there will be constant conflicts.

  12. ASSUMPTIONS • We assume you want to be the best Athlete you can be. When a coach looks at you, they see what you could and should be, and will push you to achieve your potential. You will never be allowed to settle for less than your best.

  13. ASSUMPTIONS 2. We assume that you want to Compete on a Championship team. Our practices are designed to produce Champions. You understand that decisions are made with the priority being the team, and the individual must come second.

  14. ASSUMPTIONS 3. We assume you expect to graduate with the highest grades that you are capable of making. We will not simply try to keep you eligible.

  15. ASSUMPTIONS 4. We assume that you want to become a better person. You understand that you …. - represent our team. - you will be held accountable for your actions.

  16. SELFISHNESS The only reason you will be eliminated from the team is "Selfishness". Selfishness and Team cannot co-exist. We will eliminate a selfish star to keep a team. Selfishness is the problem; some of its symptoms are: 1. Stealing - violation of another's things or space for selfish gain 2. Tardiness – explained elsewhere 3. Absence - missing practice benefits no one 4. I - concerned with self more than the team 5. Class misconduct, ISS....etc.

  17. SELFISHNESS Attendance and punctuality are mandatory. You are to attend every function, be on time, and be ready. 1. you will do 25 Burpees for being tardy to practice 2. For every excused absence you will do 25 Burpees. Excused = You notified the coach ahead of time and there was no other Option 3. For every Unexcused Absence you will do 50 Burpees

  18. LOCKER-ROOMS You are responsible to keep your individual area clean, and as a team keep the locker room neat. You are trusted to keep your locker orderly and neat. The coach will check each locker room after practice for any items not picked up. No one except athletes are allowed in the locker rooms. Do not invite anyone in without prior permission. LOCKER ROOM SECURITY There always seems to be a problem with items in the locker room coming up missing. Solution: 1. Coach: make sure all athletes have a secure place to store equipment and valuables. 2. Athlete: responsible for securing all items in locker. 3. Team: eliminate the selfish act of stealing.

  19. 22 hour rule Practice lasts for 2 hours. A Day is 24 hours long. What do you do with the remaining 22? treat your body right! Get enough sleep eat healthy drink water don’t donate blood during the season don’t use drugs or alcohol

  20. 22 hour rule Few athletes will ever have enough “SELF-DISCIPLINE” to do the extra. Even a smaller group of athletes will be DISTRICT CHAMPIONS, REGIONAL CHAMPIONS, or STATE CHAMPIONS. The choice is yours!

  21. excuses Limiting Factors Keep you from doing your best You are not improving as a track & Field athlete …. …at Tutorials, retesting …at work …in the training room or doctor’s office Be prepared. Plan ahead. Stay ahead.

  22. Dress like a RANGER • At practice and meets. • Throw you laundry in the barrel and it will be ready for you the next day. • Have pride in your team and school. • The equipment is yours and not your friends. • You have earned it, not them. • If coaches see it in the halls or classrooms they will take it up.

  23. Spring Break We will practice Wednesday and Thursday of Spring Break. We have a meet on Friday of Spring Break. You cannot take a week off 3 weeks before district and expect to be a district champion or regional qualifier.

  24. Tutorials We practice before school. First choice: Tutorials should be after school. There is a teacher available after school **It may not be your teacher. Second choice: attend practice until it is time for tutorials

  25. Injuries Tell your coach. Go see the trainers. We have two excellent trainers. Report back to your coach with what the trainers told you to do.

  26. Bus Trips Trips are not important, competitions are. Transportation is a method of arriving to accomplish a goal. Transportation is not a goal. Be very considerate of others.
