Balancing Homeland Security and Traditional NRS Roles/Work

NRT-RRT Co-Chairs Meeting


  • Rely on others (both CG & non-CG) to do 1st look at &/or respond to spills where that can be done effectively.

  • As personnel are avail, send less trained folks to spills, even not in their area of resp, as training oppty.

  • Create new HS cte for NRT, to free other committees to return to traditional work.

  • NRT should provide info on a regular basis to RRTs, RRTs should pass along to members between meetings.


  • Plan balanced RRT meetings.

  • NRT should let RRTs know when they expect to be able to return to traditional work.

  • Focus on prevention

  • Ask Federal agency members if they can train their RPMs to serve as FOSCRs, or to fill preparedness roles.

  • Ask specific RRT to work issues, then send on to NRT for approval & sharing w/others.
