  2. What is family Literacy? • Family literacy is a collaboration with parents and families to support the learning and development of reading and writing.

  3. What is family Literacy? • According to the Family Literacy Commission, “Family literacy encompasses the ways parents, children, and extended family members use literacy at home and in their community (Morrow, 1995).

  4. What are the goals? Engagement in family literacy has many potentially impactful goals for children involved. Among these goals are: • To provide a role model for good reading habits and strategies • To strengthen relationships • To teach the values of literacy • To enhance reading skills in children • To build a collaborative bond between the family and school
