Biodiesel (B20 blend) • Blend of 80% diesel & 20% refined soybean, chicken fat, or recycled vegetable oil. • GPC has used biodiesel since 1999 • To date GPC has used over 3.0 million gallons • Approximately 400 vehicles using B20 • Used at 13 locations across the state: Atlanta Region, Forest Park, Minola, Tucker, North Fulton, Duluth, Athens, Augusta, Oakley, Jonesboro, Macon, Columbus, and Valdosta.

  7. HYBRID RESULTS • 32% Increase in fuel economy • Use of B20 and Hybrid drive = Fuel Savings • Reliable – 98% availability • Reduction in noise pollution • Reduction in idle time

  8. What are the negatives? • Too Expensive • Need incentives to bring the technology to market faster • Low production numbers • Limited support and training

  9. Current Alternative Fuel Projects • Ethanol infrastructure in Macon, Ga. • Testing of two Hybrid Bucket Trucks • Working with vendors on two Plug-in Hybrid Projects. • Future ethanol expansion in other areas of the state.
