Introductions • Introduce Representatives • Name • Mr. Imtiaz Tajwar – Special Secretary Education – Govt of Punjab • Responsible for Policy Formulation and Decision-making for the Province of Punjab with regards to Education • Focal Point for our Education Programs in Punjab • Mian Bashir – Project Director – Second Science Education Project – Ministry of Education. • Responsible for promoting Science Education in Punjab • Focal Point for all our Science Activities in the Province of Punjab • Dr. Shahid Masud – (LUMS) • Professor of Computer Science • Helping us with our Science Curriculum for our Workshops • Mr. Aftab Habib – Project Director – Science Education Center • Responsible for Revamping of the Science Curriculum – Science and Math Teacher Trainings and Development of new and Innovative means of teaching Science. • Focal Point for all our Science Activities in the province of Punjab • Naila Kassim – Education Manager – Pakistan • Responsible for the Education Programs in Pakistan – Intel Teach to the Future & Intel ISEF.

Goals • What do you want to accomplish for your school, region or country? • Continuous Government Support/Commitment for the Science Olympiads for sustainability in the Country. • Develop a Sound Curriculum for our Science Workshops to prepare Students and Teachers to make Authentic Research Projects • How to Improve the Quality of Projects • How to get Students comfortable with Research • How to be a good Mentor to support Students with their Research Projects. • Improve Organization of Science Fairs thru: • Monitoring at Divisional/Provincial Levels thru Periodic Meetings / across the Country to measure progress of Science Olympiads and their Activities

Objectives • How will you know you succeeded? • Government Commitment to Support Science Olympiads across the Country. • 04 Divisional Olympiads across Punjab • 04 Provincial Olympiads across the Country • 01 National Olympiad • Identification of the Mentors at all Levels • Mentors to assign at least 3 Research Project Topics to assist Students with their Selection. • Also Mentor to be responsible for the Quality of Research Projects • Have a Curriculum in Place for the Science Workshops for Students and Teachers. • Identify 3-4 Resource People for the Workshops

Intel ISEF Educator Academy Reflection - To be done Thursday • As a result of your participation in the 2005 Educator Academy, reflect on your existing program. • Highlight what your team felt was the key learning from the Educator Academy • Nobel Laureate Session was very inspiring • Learning New and Innovative Methods in Teaching Math and Science from Participants across the globe. • Opening Ceremony. • Viewing Projects and Learning from them • Student and Scientist Session extremely useful for students esp. the use of low cost methods to get Students to do research. • Please highlight three things that your team feels is currently being done well in your school, region, or country • Effective Coordination of the Program across the Country with the Second Science Education Project – Ministry of Education • Excellent Support from the Government • Building a strong Community of Stakeholders for Implementing of Science Olympiads – Government – Scientists – Universities – Teachers-Parents • Pooling of Expertise and Resources from across the Country • Working with the Ministry of Science & Technology – Pakistan Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – Pakistan Science Foundation & Universities.
