The language in this story is very interesting. The company admits that some of the questionable loans "should have been self reported". Further, it is interesting to note that the story reports that the company "misled the government into insuring hundreds of risky mortgages, causing substantial losses" On the other hand, wasn't one of the causes cited for the financial crisis the revelation that the government was in fact, not "behind" these bad loans?
