Early childhood care and development – Maternal and child health • Improving maternal and child health within a strengthened PHC through: • Strengthening immunization programme: vaccine procurement, reaching the hard to reach • Capacity building of health care providers in standard case management of pregnancy, newborn and child health( IMCI, PEPC) Health Coordination meeting

  3. Early childhood care and development – Nutrition • Improved nutrition status of women and children through: • Support for exclusive breastfeeding (BF): expansion of BFHI, monitoring of BF law and BF practices • Achieving USI and IDD elimination: support policy & planning process, quality assurance system for iodized salt, communication strategy • Empowerment of communities – awareness raising on key family practices, development of C-IMCI, mother support groups for BF, gardens of mothers and children Health Coordination meeting

What’s next – 2006-2010 • Continued focus on maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition • Expected Outcome I: service providers ensure provision of basic health services to the most marginalized • Output1: Service providers have knowledge and skills to deliver quality services • Output 2: Local/regional structures manage basic services transparently • Output 3: Regulatory frameworks and mechanism for basic services in place Health Coordination meeting

  5. What’s next – 2006-2010 • Expected Outcome II: Rights holders demand basic health services • Output 1: Mechanisms are strengthened for community participation • Output 2: Communities have the knowledge and skills to demand appropriate health services Health Coordination meeting
