  2. Court NET 3’ or 36” Left Court Right Court Non-Volley Zone Right Court Non-Volley Line Left Court

  3. Serving • Serve from back line, must keep one foot behind line • Paddle must be below waist • No bounce before serving • Serve starts from right side of court • Serve is made diagonally across court, and must clear the non-volley zone • Switch sides after scoring a point

  4. Rules • Hand below the wrist is considered part of paddle. • Ball can only bounce once before hitting • Only one partner can play the ball • Non-Volley Zone: • Players cannot volley (hit ball without bouncing) in front of non-volley zone • Double Bounce Rule: • Each team MUST play their first shot off the bounce

  5. Faults • Hitting the ball out of bounds • Not clearing the net • Stepping into the non-volley zone and volleying the ball • Volleying the ball before it has bounced once on each side of the net • A ball landing on a line is “IN”

  6. Types of Hits • Drop shot - when your opponent is positioned too far back in the court, hit a soft drop shot that lands near the front of his court • Lob Shot - The lob shot is a high, deep shot that forces your opponent all the way to the back of the court. • Overhead Slam - Hit the ball with a hard overhand motion to slam the ball down over the net. • Dinking Skills - Dinking is the art of hitting the ball softly and gently so it just barely taps over the net into your opponent's court • Volley - Hitting the ball before it bounces

  7. Scoring • A team can only score when serving • Continue serving until a fault is made by your team • Game is played to 11 points and must win by 2
