  5. Who discovered Antibiotics? • John Flemming discovered antibiotics.He invented them by accident in 1928. John Flemming was a scientist.

  6. How were Antibiotics discovered? • Flemming left a dish in his lab. Mould grew over it. But no bacteria was there. He thought the mould had something inside which killed bacteria. That was an antibiotic.

  7. Why was it important at that time that they were discovered? • It was important because the diseases were spreading and people were getting infections. So they needed a way to fix these problems. If they hadn’t found out about them the world would’ve most likely got extinct.

  8. How are Antibiotics produced in large amounts? • They are produce by large strains of penecillium fungus. They make a very moist place and that’s where they start growing the fungi. Which is what the bacteria likes the most. Warmth and Moistness.

  9. Are there any problems with using Antibiotics? • Using too many antibiotics can produce too much white blood cells and not enough red ones. • Also sometimes it might cause side effects. It might not happen for all of them. But sometimes it does.

  10. What does it mean to be resistant to Antibiotics? • It means that the bacteria that the antibiotic wants to kill learnt how to resist it, and now the bacteria cant get hurt by the antibiotic.
