  8. Operator Positioning • Head and neck in same vertical plane as torso • Upper arms aligned with long axis of body • Chair supports the small of your back • thighs are parallel to the floor

  9. “Put the patient where YOU are comfortable” • Sit alongside with upper arms against your sides • lower arms crossed at your waist. • Patients open mouth should be below the point of your elbow.

  12. End of Appointment • Raise back of chair slowly • Lower base • Allow patient to sit briefly to avoid postural hypotension

  13. Sugested Exercises • Neck • Shoulders • Back • see additional handout

  14. BREAK - (15 minutes) Take a short walk around clinic and observe postures of Docs, RDH’s and assistants. What is the most repeated mistake? • (easiest habit to fall into…)
