  7. SECURITY Security to ensure the safety of all. • Further improved by September 2019. Entry through controlled gate and security fobs on external doors. Staff & Governor photographs in Reception. All visitors given ‘Visitor’ labels to wear.

  8. SAFEGUARDING • All children have a right to be safe, enjoy school and have a good education. • All our staff are trained in Safeguarding and are always vigilant.

  9. PARENTAL SUPPORT • Walk to school whenever possible, or lift share • Park safely – police make regular checks • Encourage your child to become independent. • Please make them carry their own bags – end & start of the day. • Shared reading – letter sounds at home • Support with parent swimming rota & help at trips - ask about DBS checks tonight! • Support events - Celebration Assemblies, concerts, plays… • Join our thriving PTFA and help raise precious funds (more later!) • In time maybe become a school governor (more later!)

INDUCTION – Mrs Crow Home Visits If required - by arrangement with Mrs. Crow Half Day Visits Thursday 20th June 1.30pm-3.00pm Wednesday 3rd July, 9.00am -12.00noon Wednesday 10th July, 1.30pm – 3.00pm Full time from day one…but less by arrangement with Mrs Crow. Start date Tuesday 3rd September. PE & Swimming starts Thursday 5th September! Welly walks Tuesday 10th September

PREPARING FOR SCHOOLIt is important your child can try to… • Dress/undress independently • Attend to their own toilet needs • Use pencils/crayons/paints • Share books – develop language • Counting games, nursery rhymes, skipping, ball games • Go to the swimming pool – have fun! Please help to prepare them over the summer months.

PREPARING FOR SCHOOLAs parents… • Positively encourage your child with their learning. • Read with your child every day...it will pay off! • Ensure your child arrives at school on time. • Please hide your own anxieties – things have progressed since you were at school! • Do not use social media if you have any issues – it enflames the problem – please talk to us if you have any concerns. • Enjoy being part of our school community.

THE SCHOOL DAY • Breakfast Club for working parents • 7.30am-8.45 am • 8.45am – 8.55am Children arrive & go into class. • 9.00am Registration & Lessons start. • Self-registration • 10.30 -10.50am Break • 10.50am Milk/snack • Free daily milk for 4 year olds • Free daily fruit for all Reception • 12.20pm – Lunch time • 1.30pm Afternoon sessions restart • 3.15pm Finish • Welly walks -Tuesdays • Swimming - Thursdays

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE Three prime areas: • Communication and language – listening to adults and other children, being an involved And active member of Hedgehogs class. • Physical development – moving, PE, holding a pencil, cutting and sticking, being independent in dressing, undressing and toileting • Personal, social and emotional development - speaking and listening to one another, being involved, managing feelings and behaviour. For all these aspects – parent support is essential

  15. EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE Four specific areas are: • English • Maths • Understanding the world • Expressive arts and design

FOUNDATION STAGE PROFILE • Pre-school transfer form • Beginning their learning from where they are • Regular on-going assessment - essential WOW Moments! • Reporting: sharing information with you and your child at Autumn and Spring term parents’ evenings & Open Book afternoons • Written report at end of Summer term • Trusting Partnership – crucial for your child’s development.

SETTLING IN • Try not to show you are anxious - stay for a while outside then disappear! • If your child is upset then tell us - we like to know if we can help. • Ring the office if your child is ill before 9.30am. • The gate is locked at 9.00am – be on time. • Talk with the staff about any worries • Be positive about the whole experience • Let us know how we’re doing

  20. NEWT BEER FESTIVAL Friday 5th – Saturday 6th July Our school receives a percentage of all profit - equal to the percentage of volunteers we provide. www.newtbeerfest.com If you can help, let us know

MAIN OFFICE • Communication • Newsletters, emails, text, Facebook… • We communicate as effectively as we can! • Payments – no longer cash… • Online payment • Contact details – always updated • Uniform • JUAL – logo jumper / cardigan please • Other uniform as information pack • Swimming – trunks (not shorts) & costume (1 piece) • Book bag – final year provided by PTFA. MAIN OFFICE - continued • Milk & fruit – daily… • Illness Absences • For D &/or V - 48 hours absence • Please advise office by 9.30am, we will ring if we have not heard from you. • Please contact GPs if unsure – we are not doctors. • Unauthorised absence • Holidays – not during term please • Fines will be issued if unauthorised for 5 day+ holiday • If over 5 years old • Disclosure and Barring Service. • We need your support in many aspects – so sign up • All enquiries…just ask us!

EXTENDED SUPPORT Early Birds Breakfast Club - 7.30am - 8.45am daily £4.00 includes breakfast • Cereal, toast, fruit, beans, porridge, crumpets, malt loaf, pancakes etc • Sugar free squash / milk / water £2.00 (no food) 8.15-8.45 am After School Clubs: Cookery, Sports, Art, Film, Music etc…depending on age Range of different clubs…

  24. SCHOOL MEALS • KS1 children will be provided with a free hot school meal (or packed lunch) if desired • Taylor Shaw are our current providers • You may choose to provide your own packed lunch. • Ordered in advance (3 weeks) • Eat in Dining Room

MINIBUS DRIVING • We rely on the assistance of volunteers to drive our minibuses to swimming, performances and other school trips. • If you are over 35 with a clean driving licence which has a D1 provision and would like to volunteer, please speak to me at the end of the evening for further details.

  26. CAR PARKING Currently, we are permitted to use the pub car park at start/end of day, but we must not abuse this kind gesture, so… Do not leave cars in pub car park during the day. Use the Village Hall car park area or on the street – considerately. If possible, please leave your car at home and walk to school. If visiting the school during the day, park considerately and avoid blocking any driveways.
