  3. The Beginning • Pompey was born in Rome on September 29th, 106 B.C.E. • His birth name was Gnaeus Pompeius. • Pompey’s father, Pompeius Strab, was a wealthy man. But he was hated by the public.

  4. His first triumph was a victory over King Hiarbas. This triumph was in Numidia in 79 B.C. His triumph took the space of 2 days! Pompey planned his triumph to coincide with his forty-fifth birthday. His First Triumph

  7. EU’s • Pompey abused power because he used the army to fight, kill , and conquer everything and everyone he could. • Pompey contributed to the history of the world by being a consul, forming the First Triumvirate, and fighting many well known wars.

  8. The End • Pompey died on September 28th , 48 B.C. • He retreated to Egypt, after he was defeated by Julius Caesar. • There, in Egypt, he was killed. • The End to Pompey the Great!
