  1. Major Events • 1969 through 1970: DSI began efforts to develop Beaver Lake with purchase of property. K.F. Gorman President and Jesse Sutton Project Manager • 17 Jan 1972: Dam construction began • July 1973: Dam construction completed • Spring 1972, first newsletter called “Beaver Lake Briefer” published. • Mar 76, first Beaver Lake News published, Vol 1, no 1. • 15 Apr 1972; Beaver Lake Association (DSI) Finalizes rules with first handbook published. Robert Gerlach of DSI was President • May 1974 Bob Moutrie and Ron Alter became first property owners assigned to the Beaver Lake Board • 30 Jun 1975: Beaver Lake Association takes over from Beaver Lake Corporation (DSI) and assumes responsibility for operations and maintenance. • May 1975 • Date: Lawsuit with DSI for not completion of project • Date: Beaver Lake Assumes full responsibilit for the association. • Other notable happenings in 1974 were the ordering of the first stocking of the lake with 20,000 walleye. Channel cat, bass, and blue gill were already in the lake. John Otto opened the concession stand by the Clubhouse on July 6th of ’74 called Coconuts. Today it is run by the Marina. • The Beaver Lake Association was first formed with DSI and two property owners in 1975 • On August 20, 1976 US National Bank and the Beaver Lake Association took over from DSI. The membership voted on the takeover on March 20, 1977. In July of 1977 a class action suit was filed on behalf of the property owners against the developers for their lack of completion of various utilities in the area.. An agreement Dr. Ramon Fusaro was voted to be the first President of the Board. • In April of 1977 1,700 lots had been sold since 1971. A total of 140 homes had been built. • On March 20, 1978 there was a meeting to organize the Beaver Lake Ladies’ Auxiliary. The Charter meeting of the Auxiliary was held April 10, 1978. I was elected the first president, Sandy Napravnik was Vice President, Mary Ann Hyde was Secretary and Eloise Henslee was elected treasurer. • Over the years, we have had many social events at our Clubhouse. We have held many dances. SLIDE: This slide shows one of the first dances that was held. One of the most successful events we’ve had was our first LasVegas night held in the spring of 1975.
