  3. LEGACY • Noun • Body of ideas, achievements, and morals; example • The crooked judge, retiring today, leaves behind a legacy of dishonesty and corruption.

  4. DELEGATE • Verb • To divide up, especially responsibilities. • Our parents delegated the easiest tasks, like collecting firewood, to the younger children.

  5. ACT/AG “to do, act”

  6. AGENDA • Noun • Plan of action; purpose. • Although some critics have wondered whether the author had a political agendain her last novel, she insists that there was no secret purpose.

  7. PROACTIVE • Adjective • Seeking to solve a problem before it occurs. • Gwen, who was proactive about getting a job, was hired right after she left college.

  8. EXACTING • Adjective • Demanding perfection; strict. • The exacting conductor sometimes kept the orchestra for hours to practice a single passage.

  9. PULS/PEL “to push”

  10. REPULSION • Noun • Desire to avoid; disgust. • After months of eating primarily peanut butter, Izzie began to feel repulsion for it.

  11. DISPEL • Verb • To scatter about, break up. • Policemen were sent in to dispel the crowd of onlookers that had gathered near the accident.

  14. RELATIVE • Adjective • Dependent upon. • The number of people at the beach on any day is relative to the weather and the season.

  15. SUPERLATIVE • Adjective • Excellent; above all others. • For superlative performance at work, Holly was awarded a big promotion.

  16. DILATE • Verb • To widen. • The surgeon dilated the opening of Anthony’s windpipe so he could breathe better.
