Manufacturing Improvement 5C Activity Summary 5C AREA TEAM MEMBERS CHANGE AGENTS ACTIVITY DATES DATE ISSUED QC Office 9th July 2010 7 & 8th June 2010 CONFIGURE CLEAR OUT Initial area condition & Clearout Activity REASONS FOR AREA SELECTION • To Establish 5C condition for the QC Office. • To Train Staff in 5C by implementing improvements recognised during the activity. Messy desks paperwork pinned to walls & Windows The Team were taken through the Need To Improve & Sustainability along with the 5C teach point before going into the area to carryout an initial 5C Audit to give the team a priority of the improvements required to bring the QC office up to the required standard. Area Clean & Configured Clear area signage Network cables Taped to walls( Not Needed) Pipe samples lying around filling untidy with no clear system. Area Control Board CLEAN & CHECK The Office Was generally Dirty in need of a good 5C ! Following the activity a 5C Audit was carried out on the area & a score of 17.3 was achieved which is well above the target for July of 13 & a massive improvement from the pre activity score of 7.6 Area Clean & Check Sheet The Team Moved all the items in the office to a safe clear out area and gave the office a thorough Clean Down. EVALUATION & FUTURE NEEDS The Teams Initial 5C Audit score was only 7.6 which is well below the target set at 12. This gave the team the focus for where to concentrate their efforts. RESULTS The Activity achieved excellent visible results introducing a detailed check sheet to maintain the area. The Team introduced a user friendly colour coding system for the project files. The team also recognised that as apart of the ongoing QC Lab Master class that the QC Office will be painted along with getting a new floor. The team need to sustain the improvements & systems that have put in place in the QC Office. Production need to support the process & carry out their daily checks in the QC Lab on the Equipment which is captured on the shared area Clean & Check Sheet.
