What has been done so far
What Has Been Done So Far

Each grade 12 student’s history has been reviewed by a Guidance counsellor:

  • To check for graduation requirements

  • To check university candidates for ENG4U and five other U or M courses

  • To check college candidates for specific college program requirements besides ENG4C.

  • To check for community service hour completion.


First important university application dates
First Important University Application Dates

  • October 17th: The OUAC will receive student information and begin to assign PIN numbers so students can begin to access the online application system.

  • January 11th: Deadline for equal consideration applications (applications received after this date will still be processed)

  • October 31st: Access to online application system begins. Students will require OEN numbers (which can be picked up in Student Services) to complete their applications.

  • November 28th: Colleges will receive student information files from high schools by this date and begin to acknowledge applications.

  • February 1st: Deadline for online applications (applications received after this date will still be processed but may not receive equal consideration)




Requirements for university application
Requirements for University Application

  • 30 credits

  • 40 hours of volunteer service

  • ENG4U (the odd Engineering program will accept ENG4C)

  • 5 other grade 12 credits (3 at the U level and 2 at either the U or M level)

  • For some specialty programs, specific Science or Math credits may be required.

  • Specific schools will have other application requirements (e.g. Queens’ PSE)

  • 30 credits

  • 40 hours of volunteer service

  • ENG4C or ENG4U (only a handful of programs will accept ENG4E)

  • For some college programs in science or computers, MAP4C, MCT4C, SBI3C, and/or SCH4C may be required.

  • For some college programs, CPR, First Aid, a medical history, a criminal record check, and/or an entrance exam may be required.

Ontario colleges applied degrees
Ontario Colleges Applied Degrees

  • Colleges in Ontario have now been accredited to grant applied degrees (many not available at universities)

  • Designed to meet needs of companies who require employees with special skills

  • Most of these degrees include a co-op placement and opportunity to do applied research

  • A list of all of these applied degree programs is available at:

Items Required for Applications

  • College:

    • Ontario Education Number (OEN) available in Student Services from secretary or Guidance counsellor, personal e-mail address

  • University:

    • Student number, PIN number, and school mident number available in student services, personal e-mail address



Costs for applications
Costs for Applications

  • College: $95 for application to 5 schools or programs (maximum 3 at one school, no additional choices allowed)

  • University: $125 for application to 3 schools or programs (additional choices are $42 each – no limit)

  • Payment by VISA, MasterCard, Amex, money order, certified cheque, or online banking (but credit card is best/fastest)

Applications to out of province schools
Applications to Out-of-Province Schools

  • It is the student’s responsibility to complete these applications by their due dates.

  • Most school applications are done online and each have separate application fees.

  • Students looking for information about out-of-province schools may book an appointment with a guidance counsellor to ask that information be ordered for them from their school of interest.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to complete these applications by their due dates.

  • Students looking for information about U.S. schools may book an appointment with a guidance counsellor to ask that information be ordered for them

  • SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores are usually required to apply to U.S. universities

  • SAT Information is available in Student Services

  • Many U.S. schools can be accessed by the Common Application.

    • Can be used to apply to almost 400 universities and colleges in the United States

    • Map showing these schools and their locations is posted in Student Services

    • Can be completed in print or online

    • Requires an application fee for each school being applied to

    • Will require a CEEB high school code (ours is 826506)
