  3. Through the Master Agreement, OIPC assigns intellectual property to NIC. NIC Board of Directors NTV Board of Directors UA Board of Regents NIC negotiates licenses with NTV. University of Alaska Nanook Innovation Corporation (NIC) Nanook Tech Ventures (NTV) University of Alaska Fairbanks OIPC In exchange for IP, UAF and inventors receive royalties per the requirements of BOR policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. NIC may also choose to grant monies to UAF, at NIC’s discretion. In exchange for IP, NIC receives Royalties where appropriate, and holds common stock in NTV. UAF researchers invent new devices, business methods, data sets, or software. Researchers assign the intellectual property to the university per their employment agreement. The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization (OIPC) performs initial market and patent research, then recommends a strategy for commercializing the invention. NTV negotiates sublicenses and negotiates other contracts as needed. NTV holds equity, and receives royalties. NTV can hold convertible note debt. Start-up or Early Stage Company Invest Please note that each individual text box represents a separate legal entity or company. Each contract is negotiated at arms length, and each entity has its own board of directors that controls the legal entity. Private Investors, Crowd funders, etc.
