  2. Today’s Goal: Demonstrate what they have learned in Literature by taking Lit Test #3: Folk Lore Unit. Outcomes: Define these lit terms: folk lore, myth, fable, legend, folk tale, oral traditions, hyperbole, idiom, generalization, theme, character traits, foreshadowing, Greek chorus, cause-and-effect, moral, and mood. Define and identify these terms: Oracle, metamorphosis, fate, demigod, foreboding. Apply their knowledge by identifying examples of the above terms in a given text. Define these power verbs: Analyze, evaluate, summarize, identify, explain, examine. Analyze portions of folk lore by correctly answering multi-leveled questions. Demonstrate their ability to follow directions and adhere to testing procedures.

  3. Starter: Prepare for today’s test. . . . 1) Take everything off from your desk, except for a pen. 2) Place your AR book under your chair. 3) If you don’t have an AR book, borrow one from Mrs. D now. 4) Remain seated and maintain zero voice the entire period. 5) When you finish, check your work, then place the answer key underthe test on your desk. 6) With Mrs. D’s approval, you may do one of the following: * Read your AR book. * Read one of the books from our Reading Cove (please return it to the same shelf). * Take an AR test in the computer mini-lab (must have 10 minutes available and a lab TA must be available to monitor you). This may not be an option because of the lunch break.
