  1. Welcome to Career and Technology Exploration (CTE) Ms. Lane Room 2031

  2. Welcome to Metro Tech High School • My name is Ms. Lane • I have taught grades 7 through college for 21 years • This class will meet for one semester. • CTE class will prepare you for high school, college, career and life. This class will help you make choices about careers that interest you.

  3. Supplies needed for class • Pens and pencils • Binder & lined paper • Highlighters • A ruler • Colored pencils

  4. Ms. Lane’s Class Rules • Be on-time everyday • Be prepared • Be respectful to yourself and others • Stay at your work station and complete your assignments • Leave food, candy and drinks outside of this room • Keep all personal electronic devices off and out of view

  5. In Career & Technology Exploration, we: • Follow district, school and classroom policies, procedures, rules and regulations. • Demonstrate care of equipment and workstations.

  6. What do we learn in CTE class? • Explore careers as you make important decisions for your future • Create a portfolio which includes your career choice and action plan; ECAP Plan; business documents; community service documentation; academic and extracurricular achievements. • Utilize Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) to create business documents, presentations, spreadsheets and databases.

  7. What do we learn in CTE? • Proofread and edit copy while performing file management skills. • Demonstrate an understanding of business management, teamwork, decision making and ethics, etc. • Develop employment skills.

  8. Conclusion The only place you will find success before work is in the dictionary. Work hard and you will be a success! Questions? Raise your hand…wait to be called upon.
