  1. FL Scrapbook Project Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Due May 9

  2. What do you really know about your state? You are about to embark on a journey of discovery. Connect to your creative side as you go on a year long scavenger hunt which will be presented in a scrapbook. Plan ahead… this is a long term project that is due on May 9, but requires time and effort to complete. Back

  3. You will be answering basic factual questions about Florida and finding scavenger hunt items from your home, neighborhood, community, and state. The answers to the questions and the collected items will be creatively displayed in a scrapbook due in May. Your goal is to collect as many items as possible for your scrapbook. Each item has a designated point value and it is possible to earn up to 220 points. Some of these items are easy to find, while others require extra effort. Back

Basic information (required) You will earn 5 points each for including these in scrapbook. *Leaf from state tree (be sure to label with correct name) *Picture and name of state bird (photo, coloring, drawing) *Article about FL’s population (newspaper or internet) *Article about the record high or low in FL *Logo from a FL sports team *An article about a natural disaster that took place in our state *Colored drawing or picture of the FL state flag *Map of FL *Map of city you live in *List of current state officials (Governor, LT. Governor, Mayor, Secretary of State) *Write the names of at least 5 FL authors (can include pictures) *Information about at least 5 bridges in FL (can include pictures or drawings) *List 5 cities located in FL and give one interesting fact about each

More information (required) You will earn 10 points each for including these in scrapbook. *Something proving you have been to Orange County Public Library *Business cards of at least 5 Orlando businesses *Picture of Orlando mayor or Orange County mayor (label & list 3 important jobs) *A brochure of a state park *Photo of you in front of local fire station, fire truck, or with a firefighter (Find out about the firefighters most important job & include this with picture) *Photo of you in front of police department (Find out about their most important job duties & include this with picture) *Photo of you at sporting event, just the building or with an athlete that plays in FL (Be sure to label event, building or athlete) *Photo of you in front of City Hall (Talk to employee and find out a minimum of 3 things that happen in this building & include with picture) *Photo of the state capital and label

  6. 3.St. Augustine (required) You will earn 20 points for including this in scrapbook. After visiting St. Augustine, you will need to write or type two paragraphs of the city’s significance to Florida and to you. Include pictures, brochures, etc.

  7. 4. “La Florida”(required) You will earn 25 points for including this in scrapbook. How did Florida get its name, who thought it up, why did we decide to use it, and 5 interesting facts about Florida not included in this project. This can be handwritten in cursive (one page), or typed (two pages, doubled spaced). Remember to cite your source. If using internet, copy the link, books should include the title and author. Back

  9. Congratulations on the completion on your scrapbook! This was a big job, but you kept at it. It is just the beginning. Now that you have explored Florida, you will be able to make connections to the material you will learn in the future. Back
