What Is ArtSmart? • 100% PTSA funded event bringing art to all students once per month. • Without it, your child may not receive any art in the classroom. • Introduces students to art elements, famous artists, artwork & mediums. • Each class involves a presentation, vocabulary, artist description, samples & project implementation. • All curriculum & preparation has already been completed (please adhere to purchased curriculum which meets District curriculum standards). • Volunteers simply lead the class - no previous art experience required. 5. Docent What is a Docent? • A person who guides or leads. • Each class entails a lead Docent (co-Leads work great too) who provides instruction with volunteers to help facilitate the project, set-up, clean-up, etc. If fearful, you are welcome to shadow. • First requirement is to confirm your volunteer status on: http://www.lwsd.org/parents/parent-access/pages/online-volunteer-application.aspx (email RPArtSmart@outlook.comupon approval & prior to 1st class) • Lead Docent should meet with classroom teacher to select preferred dates/times, then reserve on the calendar located in the art room. (Some dates not available due to State Testing, Book Fair, etc.) • Each class runs 90 minutes (30 minutes set-up/clean-up & 60 minutes for class project). Rosa Parks Elementary 22845 N.E.
