  2. The Story • Darius – the king • 120 over kingdom - 3 princes • Daniel was first • Jealousy leads to plot to destroy • Only in religious devotion could they find a fault.

  3. The Story • Offer petitions to king • No others for 30 days • Penalty = cast in lions den • Law of Medes and Persians • King signed the law

  4. The Story • Daniel prayed to God • Usual custom to pray 3 times daily • Men found Daniel praying to God • Reminded Darius of new law • Told him about Daniel • Darius realized he had been tricked

  5. The Story • Tried to change the law • Delivered Daniel to lions • King fasted during the night • Up at dawn to check on Daniel • “Oh Daniel” - is thy God able to deliver thee?

  6. The Story • Daniel was alive & well • “Oh King, live for ever” • “My God hath sent his angels” • King Darius was very glad • Delivered Daniel out of lions den • Accusers cast into den of lions

  8. Lessons 1. A Good Personality “an excellent spirit” ~ v. 3 Pleasing personality We need to be kind, considerate, and patient. Luke 2:52 – Jesus was never rude A good personality helps in life

  9. Lessons 2. He had Enemies A good man sometimes has enemies 2 Tim. 3:12 “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” Standing for truth brings persecution

  10. Lessons 3. Religious Conviction Enemies looked for a fault Knew he would obey God Acts 5:29 “We ought to obey God rather than men.” Do our enemies know that we will obey God ?

  11. Lessons 4. Man of Prayer Good prayer habits Prayed 3 times a day 1 Thes. 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.” “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with all thanksgiving.” Col.4:2

  12. Lessons 5. Man of Valor Did not quit praying to God Did not compromise - continued 1 Cor. 16:13 NKJV “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” No compromise of doctrine or morals Determine to do right !

  13. Daniel in the Lion's Den Daniel was delivered “If God be for us, who can be against us.” Rom. 8:31 The lions could not consume Daniel, because he was all backbone! Daniel had a good influence
